This study written by Maurice Wright

The word ĎLuciferí in Greek means, "the morning star." (Strongís #1966)

In this study of ĎLucifer,í a twofold question must first be answered about him before we can fully realize the deceptive plan that this enemy is directing against Godís children.

1. Who is Lucifer, the morning star?

2. What are the four major roles of deception that he plays in this earth age?

Lucifer is the God-given name of the enemy, and he is called by this name one time in the scripture (Isaiah 14:12). However, this deceiver has deceptively assumed the title of four alias names in this earth age. When God calls attention to one of those four names in the scripture, He is identifying for us the motive and evil intention that each name represents. I welcome all who are sincere seekers of truth to take this journey with me into scripture because knowledge into the hidden purpose of each name will arm you with the spiritual weapon that you will need to defeat Luciferís deceptive plan. So, with a word of wisdom from our Father, letís go directly into our study and focus on each of his names: The dragon, the serpent, the Devil and Satan. Four offices of deception, one enemy of God (Revelation 12:7-9 & Revelation 20:1-2).

Luciferís Alias: The Dragon

The word Ďdragoní in Greek means, "a fabulous kind of serpent." (Strongís #1404)

The Dragonís role in this earth age is to imitate the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. His purpose in this role is to cause as many people as he possibly can to accept his claim as the Savior when he appears in his false advent showing himself to be God (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).

Revelation 13:8-11-And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have ears, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killeth with the sword. Here is the patience of the saints. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon

Observe that this religious leader looked like the Lamb of God (John 1:29-36), but he spoke as the dragon because he is the dragon. This enemy, in his zeal to deceive, will cast a flood of lies from his mouth that will cover the earth (Revelation 12:15-17). When this downpour comes, I pray that you are protected under the ark of truth which is Godís seal in your mind concerning this deception. Observe the role reversal in the verse above as we go from the serpent/seducer in the Garden of Eden, to the dragon/false prophet in the end time. The switch was made by God to highlight the change in the purpose that each entity represents.
