Uncovering Noah's Nakedness
This Study Written By Maurice Wright

In this study of Ďuncovering Noahís nakedness,í two key points will be brought forth and documented in Godís word. The first is the incestuous sin between Ham and his mother. The consequence of that unlawful union produced a child called Cannan. The second key point is the chain of events that followed that sin and how it affected the lives of Noahís entire family. To start this study, letís go to the book of Leviticus and read with understanding Godís law of incest and how that sin reared its ugly head in Noahís tent.

Leviticus 18:8-The nakedness of thy fatherís wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy fatherís nakedness.

Many Christians are taught from the time they were children that, Noah got drunk in his tent and his son Ham physically unclothed him and revealed his nakedness. Only the unlearned teach this way it, wasnít Noahís nakedness that was uncovered in his tent but his wifeís nakedness. To uncover your fatherís nakedness is a Hebrew idiom that means, "to sleep with your fatherís wife."

Leviticus 20:11 The man that lieth with his fatherís wife, hath uncovered his fatherís nakedness.

The word Ďliethí in Hebrew means, "to lie down for sexual connection." (Strongís #7901)

By definition of the Hebrew translation of the word "lieth," we get Godís truth, not the lies of men concerning, the sexual sin that Ham committed against his own mother after they left the ark.

Genesis 9:18-And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Jaí-pheth: and Ham, is the father of Canaan.

The notable mention of Canaan in this verse should represent a red flag, that is waved in your mind telling you something isnít right. Why is special emphasis placed on the fact that Ham is the father of Canaan, when Canaan wasnít even born when Noah and his family left the ark?

Genesis 9:20-And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard.

It normally takes a vineyard 1 two 3 years after planting before it produces grapes and 4 years before the vines comes to maturity. So, from the time that Noah left the ark and planted his vineyard, to the time he got drunk and the sin occurred was somewhere between 4 and 5 years after the flood. According to Godís law concerning all manner of fruit trees, the fruit in first three years is considered uncircumcised or unripe, only in the fourth year is the fruit deemed as holy or mature.
