Reuel and Raguel were the proper names of
Mosesí father-in-law. Jethro was the name of his official title as
Midian priest. His Excellence is called Reuel in Exodus 2:16-22. He
is called Raguel in Numbers 10:29. Both names have the same meaning,
ĎFriend of God.í (Strongís #7467) Letís go to the book of Judges and
allow the scripture to continue to tear down this altar of lies that is
associated with faithful Abrahamís descendants.
Judges 4:11-Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the
children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the
Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by
If you just read the scripture above without doing the
necessary research into the genealogies of the people that you are studying,
then you, like many other Christians, would come to the wrong conclusion
concerning Heberís true bloodline. Heber was the son of Hobab,
who was the son of Raguel, who was Mosesí father-in-law. This just
goes to prove that Heberís identity as a Kenite was based solely on his
residency in their land. To Heberís credit, once he realized the wickedness
of the Kenite people, he left their land and moved his tent to Zaanaim.
Numbers 10:29-And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of
Raguel the Midianite, Moses father in law.
In conclusion of this study I would like to warn all
Christians that they are not obligated to blindly believe and not question
the teaching of their pastor, if that teaching is contrary to Godís word.
Jesus told us to be fruit inspectors and test doctrinally what we are taught
(Matthew 7:15-20). The sin for believing lies will ultimately be your
burden to carry, and I assure you that your pastor will not be able to stand
in your defense when you are judged on that day. He will have his own
problems to deal with if he continues to teach falsely. So the next time any
preacher tries to feed you this lie about Mosesí father-in-law and the
Kenite connection, tell them to document it in Godís word as this Ministry
has. I thank you for studying with Men As Trees Teaching Ministry and
encourage you to view some of the other Bible studies on this website.
